Christmas In Blue Mountain: Things To Do

When you spend Christmas in Blue Mountain, you’ll be here during one of the most popular times of the year. That means tourist attractions are in full swing, and you’ll have the option to participate in so many different activities across the Blue Mountain and Collingwood area. Check out the quick video below to see why we love winter in Blue Mountain!

Blue Mountain offers many Christmas-related activities and also many activities that are only available during the winter season! See below to get some ideas for how to enjoy your winter vacation here at Blue Mountain.

1. Enjoy the Christmas Spirit at Blue Mountain Village

During the holiday season, the Blue Mountain Village transforms into a magical, cozy place full of Christmas decorations, beautiful lights, and so much more. Last year during the Jingles and Joy event, those visiting during the month of December could participate in family-friendly fun such as fireworks, meet and greets with Santa, horse and wagon rides, and shops open extra late for last-minute holiday shopping.

If you want to experience a bit of Christmas magic and prefer to stay off the slopes, spending time in the Village during your Christmas vacation is the perfect way to enjoy some of our local shops while the family spends their day outdoors, or enjoy the festivities all together!

2. Go Skiing or Snowboarding on the Slopes

The slopes at Blue Mountain are ideal for both beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders!

Whether you go skiing or snowboarding every winter or are just trying for the first time, Blue Mountain is the perfect place for both the avid skier and the newbie. Blue Mountain has 364 skiable acres that are serviced by 12 lifts. Blue Mountain is Ontario’s largest mountain resort!

The Mountain boasts a vertical of approximately 720 feet for skiing and riding, with 42 named trails that range from beginner slopes to double black diamond steeps featuring beautiful views of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. Winter sports are a great way to enjoy the cold weather with the entire family!

3. Check Out The Frozen In Time Festival

The Collingwood Frozen in Time Festival is a great way to spend time with the entire family during your Christmas vacation in Blue Mountain. If you’d like to take things a bit slower and need a break from the slopes, the Frozen in Time Festival is a perfect way to slow down the pace and enjoy ice sculptures, wagon rides around the downtown core, free concerts and street performances, and so much more!

4. Horse and Wagon Rides

Horse and wagon rides are available during the winter months in the Blue Mountain Village

Whether you are looking for a romantic night out with your significant other or a fun way to spend an afternoon with your whole family, a horse and wagon ride is a wonderful experience you won’t soon forget! Taking a horse and wagon ride is such a fun way to see more of the beautiful scenery around the Village – and if you’re a bit tired from all that walking or skiing, a wagon ride is a great way to take a step back and relax in one of the coziest ways possible!

5. Woodview Mountaintop Skating

Don’t fret if you don’t have your own skates – rentals are available at Woodview Mountaintop!

Another great way to make the most out the cold is by skating at the beautiful Woodview Mountaintop rink! The Mountaintop rink features over a kilometre of ice at the top of the mountain. You’ll not only get to enjoy skating with your family, but you’ll get a beautiful view as part of your unique skating experience.

This activity is perfect for families with children and people of all skill level. You don’t have to be an expert skater or even own your own skates to participate. Learn more here!

Blue Mountain Dining

Blue Mountain and Collingwood boast many family-friendly restaurants as well as fine dining establishments

When you’re visiting Blue Mountain, you won’t want to miss out on all of the different restaurants and dining options available! A while ago, we took a poll to find out which restaurants visitors loved the most during their stay at Blue Mountain. We’ll showcase the #1 and #2 spots below, and if you want to find out more dining options, click here!

#1 – The Lodge at Blue in The Blue Mountains

Websitehttps://www.bluemountainlodges.ca/dining

“This hidden gem is located in the Mountain Springs Resort and offers comfort food in a casual atmosphere. Whether you are looking for a family dinner, friends’ night out, or a romantic meal, this is the place to be for any occasion. They feature live music on Friday and Saturday nights with local artists in a variety of music genres. Their slogan is: “Come get cozy at The Lodge” and you really should do just that the next time you are in Blue Mountain.”

#2 – Tesoro in Collingwood

Websitehttp://www.tesororestaurant.ca/

“Tesoro led this little contest wire-to-wire but whether they were first or fourth, you’d be hard-pressed to find a local who didn’t have this charmer in their top five. Authentic Italian food done superbly, giant meatballs, gelato and live music on the patio on Thursday: what’s not to like?  But they don’t stop just delivering the authentic Italian experience, they go beyond to deliver a little food fusion.  It can get busy sometimes but it’s worth the wait.”

Stay at the Best Accommodations In Blue Mountain During Your Winter Vacation!

“Our unit was very comfortable for me, my husband, and daughter. The location was close to the village. My daughter loved the pool and how close it was to the unit. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We liked having less than a five-minute drive to the beach! We hope to go again next year!”
