Extreme Heat Alerts: Keep Hydrated

It’s record temperatures with high humidity indexes… and extreme heat alerts. We want to make sure you stay hydrated. No one wants to be ill on their vacation! We’ve gathered some tips on what to look for and how to keep enjoying the lazy days of summer.

Signs of dehydration:

  • Thirsty – that often means  you are already dehydrated
  • Headache
  • Dizziness, light headed
  • Tired
  • Low blood pressure
  • Increased heart rate

How to stay hydrated:

  • Drink fluids throughout the day
  • Top choice of fluids – water
  • Avoid soft drinks
  • Drink – milk (skim, one or two percent), 100% fruit juices
  • Soups – who wants hot soup on a hot day? Try a cold soup
  • Limit your caffeinated drinks
