OK – Let’s talk man to man. Valentine’s Day is coming up very soon and you know that special someone in your life would love to have you show them how much you care. How about a Blue Mountain Valentine’s getaway?
I’m going to do you a favour by helping you out. I’m going to give you a list of outstanding restaurants where you could book a reservation, or better yet, give you a list of local favourite stores that can provide the necessities for a romantic Valentine’s evening.
I’m doing this public service because, like most men, I can leave things like this to the last minute. As a result, I have missed out on some opportunities in the past (if you know what I mean). Your Blue Mountain Valentine’s getaway will be perfect.
First, book a fully modernized mountainside chalet within a short walk to the Blue Mountain Village. Choose a cozy ski-in ski-out studio or one-bedroom condo with a fireplace, Jacuzzi bath tub and full kitchen. Right now you can save 30% OFF and receive a complimentary bottle of wine with your stay. All guests also receive two $10 dining vouchers per booking. Call our reservation agent at 1-877-368-2583 to book. Mention the VALENTINE’S DAY take advantage of these savings.
Next, book an appointment for that special someone at the IWA Spa, located in Blue Mountain Village, 705-293-2492. Gift certificates are also available. While they are enjoying their spa service, you head to Collingwood’s downtown (just 10 minutes away) and pick up your Valentine’s Day items. You can have your shopping done in less than an hour.
You’ll probably want a bottle of wine to celebrate Valentine’s Day on your getaway. The LCBO in Collingwood features a fantastic Vintages section and two local wineries, Georgian Hills and Coffin Ridge. I particularly like the Back From the Dead Red from Coffin Ridge.
Next stop is Smart’s Flowers to grab a bouquet, or what I think is more romantic, just one single rose. Two doors is Crave, a local chocolatier who makes some delictable handmade chocolates in all kinds of shapes and sizes. What do you think so far – chocolate and wine – you know this is going to end well.
Any one of the many restaurants in Blue Mountain Village will make an excellent romantic dinner out. Click here for the list. However, I highly recommend a DYI dinner. Go to Dags & Willow, another fabulous shop in Collingwood, and select some gourmet hors d’oeuvres to enjoy in front of the fire in your mountainside chalet. Choose from specialty cheeses, breads, dips, cured meats and smoked trout to create the perfect platter for a night of romance.
Keep going south on the main street of Collingwood (Hurontario) and head to The Body Bar where you will find scented and unscented candles, lotions and, of course, a Valentine’s Day necessity, massage oil.
With shopping duties now complete, head back to Blue Mountain Lodges and get your chalet ready for your Valentine’s Day partner. Put on some music, light the candles, pour a glass of wine and let your partner appreciate your efforts.
On Feb 15, when you wake up exhausted (and you know why), you can thank me.
